Schools Membership is open to any primary, middle or secondary
school or Sixth Form College in the UK or Ireland which is involved
in teaching microbiology.
SGM School Membership costs only £10
a year.
For this a named teacher representative will receive:
Microbiology
Today
(MT) is a quarterly colour magazine packed with information about
the latest advances in the various fields of microbiology. It contains
articles on a different theme each issue. Topics covered include:
MT
also has a range of regular features. These include SchoolZone,
a two page spread devoted to microbiology news and activities for
teachers. Contributions of interesting material for SchoolZone,
such as novel investigations, useful tips and good sources of information
are welcome. A copy of the post-16 resource Practical Fermentation
(worth £15) will be sent to any school whose submission is
published.

Priority mailings
School Members will be told first about any courses or workshops
that the Society is organizing so that they have the opportunity
to book places in good time. They will be sent copies of new resources
as soon as they are published, and occasional materials that are
only made available to School Members.

Discounts
on SGM INSET courses
SGM runs basic practical microbiology courses for secondary school
teachers and technicians, summer schools and occasional workshops.
School Members are entitled to a 20% discount on the course fees
for these events.
